Daylily - Misty Mayhaw

MistyMayhaw
I love daylilies. They are such fun. Because each flower blooms for only a day, there is an eager anticipation to see who will be blooming during my morning walk.

Tommy’s Recovery

Thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers for the recovery of my nephew. He is making a miraculous recovery - in fact he is due to return home from the rehab center in Austin on June 29. We will be having a party to celebrate his return.

Although his left side was slower to recover than his right, he appears to be on his way to a full recovery. The administrative doctor at the hospital where he was initially admitted had said that he would never recover, would likely live less than a year - and would not get his faculties back because of what appeared to be the extent of his injuries. I think he did not take into account prayer, faith and love.

I’m back - and my flowers are beginning to bloom

Irises in bloom
Since the attack on my nephew Tommy, I have not been in a place emotionally to post on my blogs. But Tommy is recovering and I am beginning to return to a place of normalcy. Tommy has spoken - walked - written. It looks like he will have a full recovery and for that we all thank God.

And wondrously, in my mental absence, my flowers are beginning to bloom - and life goes on.

These irises are blooming in a bed that definitely needs work - but today I will begin working in my yard again.

After 8 days of living a nightmare, the Yugovich family is delighted to inform you that Tommy will survive and is on his way to recovery. So many things have happened today. I would love to share them with you.

The likelihood of the brain swelling is no longer an issue, so they removed the bolt/icp monitor. Hooray!!!!! This is big!!!! We have been doing the happy dance since we spoke with the neurosurgeon, Dr. Cindrich.

They removed the main arterial line which monitors the blood pressure. Yeah!!!

They have slowly decreased sedation and Tommy’s lungs are overbreathing the respirator and he is ready to breathe on his own….so they are going to remove the respirator tubes either tonight or in the morning.

All of his organs are functioning properly and there is no elevated white count…no infections. He has normal temperature. Yeah!!!

They are going to start waking him tonight through morning. Great news!!!!! When he is awake they will evaluate his cognitive abilities and motor functions….keep your fingers crossed that he wakes up and says “Dad, let’s get the heck outta here”!!

Overall, this has been a great day. We want to thank you all for all your love, support and prayers. Keep them coming…..the power of prayer.

I’ve been at the hospital

My nephew was the victim of a home invasion this last weekend. He was badly injured and underwent brain surgery on Monday. Our family members have been sitting with him round the clock since then so I have been unable to post. Even though one side of his head was crushed, he has been having a remarkable recovery. We are all hopeful that once he has regained consciousness and gone through physical rehab that he will have all of the faculties and skills that he possessed prior to the attack. His name is Tommy Yugovich. We would appreciate any and all of your prayers on his behalf.
