I love daylilies. They are such fun. Because each flower blooms for only a day, there is an eager anticipation to see who will be blooming during my morning walk.

My yard got 2 inches of rain this weekend - which is wonderful for Lubbock - so this afternoon, I took the opportunity of beginning my seemingly never-ending pastime of pulling weeds. Of course, I had to take breaks - and walk around to see if any other flowers were coming up. I had forgotten this daylily was even there - but there is a clump of them coming up. Came running into the house to check my pictures - and sure enough - there it was. What fun this year is being. Last summer was our first year in our new home and because we had moved the plants from our previous house, nothing was really established - many plants didn’t even bloom. This year should be so much better. I can hardly wait.

I love to walk through my flower garden in the early summer, seeing which of my daylilies is in bloom that day. The variety and beauty of daylilies has increased until there is such a wealth of beautiful flowers.

The weather is warm - perfect for walking in the yard - and so i was out there checking out what might be coming up. And sure enough - daylilies are coming up. I was so excited I snapped a picture of this one emerging from its winter sleep. I thought I would give you a before and after picture of this wonderful daylily- coming up out of the ground and full flower. This is the daylily “Soft Summer Night”. It was introduced by Stamile in 1995. It is fragrant and it reblooms!
